Melissa posted a video of a special moment that happened last October. She sang her song “Skyline” to India.Arie and her band as per India’s request. Below, you can read details of the account as Melissa posted on her YouTube post:
"I went to an India.Arie concert in Dallas, TX - OCT 1, 2013 - didn’t expect I’d end up singing backstage for her and her crew that night. So blessed. Just posting this for posterity sake. Since I haven’t posted much on YouTube lately, I figured to share you a glimpse of a day (or night, in this case) in the life of MP. Thank you so much for your ongoing love & support. New album coming soon. -mp"

Once again, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and patience as I’m still trying to get this album all the way to the finish line. I hope your summer (that is if you’re on the northern hemisphere) is going well and I hope y’all are soaking up some Vitamin D while you’re at it.
I’ve been juggling a few things while I’ve been truckin’ for this album to get done - doing the usual writing sessions, shows, and etc… Being an independent artist has its challenges but I just want to assure each and everyone of you that this album is still and has been progressing beautifully (I repeat, BEAUTIFULLY) - - I’m truly excited to share when the time comes.
As some of you might already have an inkling, I can officially announce that my original projected August 2013 release (as stated from my Kickstarter campaign) needs to be pushed back. I hate to keep all of you waiting but I knew from the get-go that these things happen and could possibly happen for my project.
One of the main reasons for the delay is that I need more time recording the rest of the tracks with David Ryan Harris in Los Angeles next month - August. Then after that, I’d have to give a bit more time for post-production and time for me to package it all up for you. David and I have already put in studio time from last week of June until early July. I was the first production project he took on after being gone from Australia since mid-March - 3 months!
I had such a blast working with the guy and it was all-in-all a learning experience for me because this was the first time I had worked with him on a production standpoint (we’ve only written before). It was so fun picking his brain and getting into his creative groove. I truly can’t wait to get back in the studio with him again and get errrrthangdone. You can see a few photos below - taken by Andrew Rose.
On the other end, my tracks with my super talented friend Jesse Barrera are all pretty much mixed and ready to get mastered! I did go back to his studio in San Diego beginning of June to re-track vocals. Since then, he edited, refined more parts here-and-there, and finalized mixes. They’re all sounding incredible! Jesse is now truckin’ along with other projects and if you follow him on his social networks, the guy is a production machine! Pretty amazing.
So basically, we are just waiting for every song to get completed on the production/mixing end before sending off to mastering. I’m hoping to release mid-late fall/autumn of this year - as it stands.
Now for the AWESOME NEWS!
To finally start things off, I’m releasing a single called "Happy" off the album! Can I get an aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-men!?! It was co-written with my lovely friend Nina Storey. And it was produced by Jesse Barrera and the “JB Cave” crew. I absolutely LOVE how this song turned out and it’s the most fun and light-hearted track off the LP. I originally wasn’t intending for this song to be on the project because I thought I had all the songs in place and I no longer had room. When I played it for Jesse one night in his studio, just for the sake of sharing, he basically convinced me to have it on the project. It didn’t take me long to say… “let’s do it!” And it’s funny how it is now the FIRST single release for this album. So here we are…
The official release date worldwide (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) will be
JULY 30, 2013!
…and THERE YOU GO.
We are almost there, folks! Almost there! So please hang tight… THANK YOU, thank you, THANK YOU for sticking around, for being patient, and for being awesome.
Love and blessings,
